Derek Shoenfeld

I started my love affair with photography as a young man in my early twenties. I happened to come across this wonderful old color "slide" of my father that was taken when he was about 17 years old. In an instant that single picture communicated more information about my Dad, and what his life was like back in 1950, than volumes of written words could have. At that moment I had a glimpse of how powerful a simple photograph can be. I instantly knew that I wanted to record the important events and people in my life with pictures. What started out as a simple photographic journal of family and friends slowly grew into a passion for creating beautiful images. I eventually changed professions and opened a studio that specializes in creating aesthetic photographs for advertising and business communications. I love making photographs.  Photographs have the power to enrich our lives and convey so much in just a few seconds. They inform us, they entertain us, they please the eye and warm our hearts.

I see it, I feel it, I play with it, I can control it." Born and raised in Poland, he eventually made his way Salt Lake City, his residence for over twenty years.
